My friend and colleague is starting to dabble in photography.  She did our maternity pictures, which I'll post on the blog eventually! and also some newborn photos of Selah.  Here are some of the favorites!

Introducing Selah Ruth

Selah Ruth made her debut Monday, April 2nd, at 5:07 am,  6 lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long.

Master of the House

I feel as if I've been hard on Rob lately, and maybe it's pregnancy hormones kicking in (really, at 39 weeks couldn't I have been spared?!) but here are some things that make me so Thankful God placed Rob as head of our household.

• Rob is spiritual and has a relationship with the Lord
• he manages our money so I don't have to
• He takes out the trash
• he's the caretaker of the kitties.  If they had to rely on me, they would probably starve and have a dirty litter-box all the time!
• He looks for ways to help others
• Rob reads the books/chapters I've marked for him
• He is a great musician
• fluent in Deutsch.  Hoping to raise a bilingual baby!
• He likes my family. :)
• he organized the upstairs music room
• He isn't afraid to ask for help
• he installed a new door knob and dead bolt so our house is now SUPER secure!
• He doesn't get upset if he comes home to a cluttered house, even though I'm home all day and probably could have straightened up a few rooms. 
• Rob is VERY clever.  
• AND I love his sense of humor!  He created the scripts for our KB Bracket videos, btw.
• He's a great role model for the youth
• Rob is great with the kids in GFM-it's fun to be a team with the kids' music!
• he is sensitive-especially to my emotions, and handles "them" really well.
• when I was going to school, he helped me put my shoes and socks on.  (yay for warm weather!)
• he looks really good pushing a vacuum cleaner! :)

I think Rob is going to make a great dad, and I'm excited to be partners in this new role of parenting!

Baby Moon!

Babymoon has several meanings. The original meaning is a period of time that parents spend bonding with a recently-born baby.
More recently the term has come to be used to describe a vacation taken by a couple that is expecting a baby in order to allow the couple to enjoy a final trip together before the many sleepless nights that usually accompany a newborn baby. Babymoons usually take place at a resort that offers appropriate services like prenatal massage.

I had originally wanted to go on a babymoon over Winter Break to Hawaii or California, but with the extensive travelling we did last summer, we (ie Rob) decided that wouldn't be the best use of our funds OR his time off.  I still wanted to have one last formal "fling" before baby, and thanks to some kind friends who hooked us up with discounts, Rob and I were able to go on a mini-babymoon. 

We started with a delicious dinner at the Classic Cup Cafe on the Plaza.  The weather was absolutely glorious.  Eating outside was reminiscent of our time in Europe last summer. 

Then we headed to the Chateau Avalon at the Legends in KCK.

We stayed in a Roman Dynasty themed room, which was the themed room we stayed at after our wedding!

Jayme H hooked us up with a handicap accessible room so that I wouldn't have to navigate steps in the middle of the night.

  The staff was great, we asked for fresh coffee from the front desk, and they brought down a whole carafe just for us.  They also heated up our raspberry peach cobbler from the Classic Cup on a real plate and brought down real silverware. :)

We slept until 9 this morning and had a wonderful breakfast, shown above.  The Chateau serves Midnight Rendezvous DECAF coffee from the Roasterie.  This was by far the best decaf coffee I have ever had.   Rob enjoyed the Chateau Avalon signature blend created by the Roasterie. Yum!

Now we're home, very much relaxed, and ready to tackle some more of my to-do list.  :)

Note: I haven't heard from my doctor about my lab results, and no news is good news.  My swelling is less than it has been, which is super.  blood pressure is still very much on target.  Thanks for your prayers!

Update on the to-do list

Update on the to do list:

• take it easy!
• install car seat base in Rob's car
• level car seat base in my car, and take it to the Lenexa PD for inspection
• get back into the groove of Quiet time with the Lord (on going!)
• pack a bag for the hospital (or create a list)
• wash some baby blankets and clothes
• match up gift receipts with gifts
• nap when tired (on going!)
• organize the baby's room -still in progress!
• put mattress pad and crib sheet on mattress
• switch out winter/summer clothes
• organize the linen closet
• organize kitchen cabinets to make room for baby dishes/bottles
• walk every day
• get a pedicure (maybe with Mom on Wednesday????)
• menu plan and make meals
• research floor companies: I think we're going to get new hard floors!!!
• read
• snuggle with kitties
• hang up baby clothes in closet (on going)
• clear out guest bedroom closet

• create a pregnancy scrapbook-should have started that in August, huh?

• carry phone with me so I don't have to run and find my phone when it rings

Update on me:  I am starting to show signs of pre-eclampsia. :(  I'm doing lab work at the hospital tomorrow, who will call my doctor in the late afternoon with results.  The prayer is that the results come back NORMAL so that I don't talk to my doctor until next week's visit.  If results aren't looking good, she'll call me tomorrow evening and we'll go from there.  My blood pressure is normal which is good.
